The writer of the Inspector Banks series, Peter Robinson, is an English- Canadian novelist. Peter Robinson was born in Armley, Leeds (England) in 1950. He completed his bachelor’s in English literature, and in 1974 he shifted to Canada and obtained a master’s degree in Creative Writing and English from the University of Windsor. He received his Ph.D. degree from York University in Toronto.

Peter Robinson has written several writings, and he is famous for his world-famous series, Inspector Banks series; he set the town of Eastvale in the Yorkshire Dales in a fictional manner.
In this series, he mentioned Eastvale and found it in Ripon and Richmond. It is about a former member of the London Metropolitan police and a story of inspector Alan Banks who leaves the capital for a quieter life in the Dales.
