On the third attempt, he got selected for the training, but he was diagnosed with sickle cell trait and removed from the training. After recovering from the Sickle cell trait, he returned but did not join the par rescue training and then accomplished United States Air Force Tactical Air Control Party (TACP) training and worked as a TACP. David worked at TACP for four years, from 1994 to 1999. He left the TACP in the year 1999.

After seeing the documentary movies about Navy Stealth, he decided to join the navy seal, and after three attempts, he completed his SEAL Qualification Training (SQT) and six months of probation training to become the Combatant Swimmer (SEAL). He was also known as “Seal Trident.” Goggins served 19 years in the military and worked in different parts of Iraq and Afghanistan during his services.
